About Us
Alpaqu offers alpaca fiber clothing, one of the most recognized and requested products for its high quality, made in Peru by its Peruvian communities respecting the ecosystem and responsible production.
Our flagship fiber is one of the finest and most exclusive. Sought after for its softness, lightness and warmth in contact with the skin.
The origin program
Alpacas must be raised in a good area and are provided with a high-fiber diet based on high-quality pasture and hay to obtain the alpaca fiber we need. When they’re one year old, we start shearing them every year in the warmer months so that they feel comfortable with the environment. We classify the fiber by hand according to its fineness and color to make the yarn, also called Pushkado. Then, we proceed to the manufacture of the garments.
Finally, we use a natural dye, as it is based on cochineals, we get 25 shades of red color.
Alpacas
The manufacturing process of our garments respects the ecosystem and responsible production. Our main concern is the comfort and health of the animal.
On the one hand, the alpaca must be raised in a good area and with an excellent diet to obtain the alpaca fiber we need. When they are a year old, we start shearing them every year in the months of October and November, warmer temperatures so that they feel comfortable with the environment. If they are not sheared, they run the risk of overheating, becoming immobilized and suffering from infections.
